Hunter was born and raised in our great state of Alaska, spending his youth on Sand Lake where he learned fly fishing. As a young boy Hunter discovered his passion for fishing while watching his father tie flies and then use those same flies to catch rainbow trout. He loved spending time on the water so much that he got in trouble in elementary school for leaving mid-day to fish in his small boat. He started guiding right out of high school and hasn’t looked back. He spent time guiding on some of the most pristine waters Alaska has to offer, the waters of Denali National Park, Bristol Bay, Katmai National Park and the Kenai Peninsula.
In his 10 years working as a fishing guide, he has discovered that even the hardest days on the water are better than any day anywhere else. When Hunter isn’t fishing, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and dogs, bowling and golfing. He spends his winters working odd jobs, skiing, and scheming ideas for the next greatest fly.
Hunter’s passion for fishing has led him to explore every tactic in the book, whether you’d like to fish conventionally (spin), spey, centerpin, or your most effective and most used — traditional single-hand fly rod. He’s got you covered! When he’s not putting clients onto fish, he’s tying flies, and studying the waters. His goal is always to make sure you finish the day a better and more educated (happier) angler than when you began.
